Marla Lichtenberger to Receive Hall of Inspiration Award, Police Department Honor

The Mequon-Thiensville School District announced March 15 that it will honor six outsanding graduates, including Marla Lichtenberger, DVM, to "inspire new generations of students to dedicate themselves to lives of accomplishment, service and good charactor." The Hall of Inspiration Award recognizes outstanding indivuduals who have either attended District schools or made meaningful contributions to them.

"We are very pleased to announce this year's inductees," said Dr. Desmond Means, District Superintendent. "Each of them has made their community a better place to live through dedication and the inspiration they have shared with others," added Dr. Means.

The induction ceremony will be held on June 2.

In addition the school district award, Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals will also be honored by the West Allis Police Department on April 28, for the community support it has provided.

Dr. Marla Lichttenberger is owner of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals
Awarded double honors in 2008 from both the North American Veterinary Conference (Speaker of the Year) and the Western States Veterinary Conference (Educator of the Year, Exotics). These are the two largest veterinary conferences in the United States, which makes such recognition especially notable.

In addition, Dr. Lichtenberger is listed on Cambridge Who’s Who for 2006-2007 and one of the top veterinarians in 2008. She was also recognized for Papers of the Year for Exotic DVM in May 2006:

  • Fluid resuscitation and nutritional support in the rabbit

  • Shock, fluid therapy, anesthesia and analgesia in the ferret
